October 3rd and 4th - New Arrivals - $15 ($10 OTV Members)

We have several new and exciting wines to showcase this weekend. From Napa blends to Edna Valley Syrah come see what's new at Off The Vine!!!

We are located at the corner of 6th street and Pacific avenue, across from the Warner Grand Theatre. Entrance off 6th street.

2007 Heartland “Stickleback White” – 52% Semillon, 28% Chardonnay, 20% Verdelho, South Australia

Light yellow. Fresh lime, jasmine and anise aromas are deepened by a suave honey quality. Fleshy citrus and orchard fruit flavours and firmed by refreshing citrus pith and wet stone qualities, gaining weight with air. Pliant but nervy, with good finishing cut. – Steve Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar

2007 Woop Woop – 100% Chardonnay – South Eastern Australia

"Pale gold. Fresh melon and peach aromas are complicated by subtle baking spices, anise and white flowers. Crisp, sharply focused melon and pear flavors show good mineral lift and back-end snap. Tangy, refreshing and persistent chardonnay with lingering lemon and green apple character." - Steve Tanzer's International Wine Cellar

2005 Quinta dos Roques – 100% Touriga Nacional – Dao, Portugal

Quinta dos Roques pioneered the idea of varietal bottling in Portugal with their 1996 wines, and were probably responsible for the Touriga Nacional gold rush which followed. Despite their fame, Roques remain a small producer, with many of their bottlings not exceeding 1000 cases. An elegant red with ripe black fruit and vanilla notes, the palate continues the theme developing balance and persistent silky flavours. - Incredibly Rhone-like!!

2004 Domaine Alfred “Chamisal” – 100% Syrah – Edna Valley, California

The less expensive as well as less oaky 2004 Syrah Domaine Alfred Estate is better balanced than its more expensive sibling. Although internationally-styled, and revealing plenty of sweet oak, the well-balanced, deep purple-colored Estate wine possesses loads of blackberry and cassis fruit as well as a full-bodied, rich style. Drink it over the next 4-6 years. – This is a superb wine from one of the Edna Valley’s premier Rhone producers!!

2006 Valle Vista – 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 8% Malbec, 6% Petite Verdot, 5% Merlot, 2% Zinfandel – Napa Valley, California

Produced by the owners of TGIC Importers. Ripe, rich fruit from the Napa Valley, blended in a proprietary formula, guaranteed to put a glimmer in your eye! In fact, we were swept away, as if by a spectacular view. We present Valle Vista, a testament to great value and great quality. Excellent with grilled meats!!

An incredible value!! This is your new “everyday” red!!

2004 Charles Creek “Muy Bonito” – 51% Syrah, 40% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Grenache – 63% Sonoma County, 32% Napa Valley, 5% San Luis Obispo County

Veering into the somewhat non-traditional, this delightful, eminently drinkable red brings together the forward fruit and spice of the varietals associated with France’s southerly Rhone region and the structure and complexity of the grapes typically (historically) cultivated in the Bordeaux. Black fruit aromas and a hint of peppery spice are accompanied by mouthwatering raspberry and blackberry fruit in the mouth. Hints of vanilla and toasty oak bring a touch of seriousness to the endeavor, allowing some aging potential of at least 3-5 additional years.

Another “blow-me-away” red blend for under $20. This is crazy!!

2007 Domaine Monte de Luz “Carquera” – 100% Tannat – San Jose, Uruguay

Firm tannins are buffered by intense black fruits, giving a wine with boldness and without excess weight. This is a terrific balanced wine made in the style of Madiran and pays tribute to the greatness of its Basque roots. Enjoy this unique wine with some cassoulet, roast duck, rack of lamb, or pot roast. Great expression of this “unique” varietal!!
